Our library is packed with relevant reading and reference books surrounding global issues, including climate change, social justice, peace, and sustainable living.

A helpful summary of sections within the library is listed below.

Open to all members, it’s a great resource for students, teachers or interested people who would like to find out more about local and global issues. Many of the books we hold are hard to find elsewhere in the city and we regularly add new stock to keep you up to date with latest information and resources.

 Resources

The library is divided into sections and sub categories to make it easy to browse and find what you want. We have specific sections for children’s reading, teachers resources and DVD's.

The main library is sectioned into the following categories:

Sustainable Living; Eating, Shopping, Gardening, Health etc.....

Environment; Climate change, conservation, ecology, energy, farming etc....

Rights; Gender, Migrants, Sexuality, Disability, Civil Liberties etc....

Social Change; Diversity, Economy, Trade & Aid, Global Cooperation etc....

Being Active; Campaigning, Community, Volunteering and Jobs, Travel etc....

Teachers

The Teaching Resources section is clearly divided and encompasses all stages of education including topics on Global Citizenship (KS1-4), Diversity, Sustainability, Tourism, Trade and many many more. You can also find out more about our work with schools here.

Children

The Children’s section has a whole host of books on many of the topics above, some fun, some educational but all to provide our users with inspirational material. Outlined below are a few of our selections (find more by looking at our book reviews).

Change the world for a fiver; An illustrative book which gives 50 simple everyday actions to change the world in an informative and witty way.

Wake up world (a day in the life of children around the world); Combining photographs and text this take you through a day in the life of 8 children from around the world.

Living for the future; A series of books which looks at practical steps which are being taken across the world to ensure that we can go about our daily lives without damaging the environment.
